Mike began his career in 1976 at J. Walter Thompson in Toronto where he planned and bought media for clients such as Pepsi-Cola and Warner Lambert.
In 1979 he moved to Grey Canada to plan media in the Consumer Packaged Goods group whose primary clients included Procter & Gamble and General Foods (now Kraft Foods). For two years he headed up the media department of Grey subsidiary Grey Ronalds Smith.
Mike moved to Promanad Communications as media director in 1989. Over time he assumed responsibility for related channels such as direct and database marketing and internet advertising. A diverse roster of clients included Canon, Bridgestone Tires and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism.
In 1998 Mike established an independent media planning operation called Mike Chornopesky Media Consulting which was incorporated the following year as Canmedia Planning Inc.
